Welcome to South Carolina
December of 2020, I decided to section hike the Palmetto Trail. It was then that I learned the trail is incomplete and has large gaps. Most people decide to"Passage Hike" the trail, meaning they only hike the main passages. A few like to thru hike the trail and even less section hike the whole trail. I guess most people just aren't into a nice long out-and-back walk along the road... but alas, I wanted a continuous footpath. The actual resources for planning a continuous footpath are limited, so I decided to start documenting my journey to assist anyone in the future. I'm not affiliated with the Palmetto Trail Conservancy but I am a thru-hiker who just wants to help the thru-hiking community. Feel free to use my guide to assist your journey.

About the Author
Hello, my trail name is Gator and I am an avid section hiker/ thru hiker. My first big backpacking trip was actually a backpacking course with the National Outdoor Leadership School where we backpacked for 35 days through Northern Western Australia. When I came home (in 2013), I started planning my own backpacking trips. Since then, I've completed the Appalachian Trail, the Foothills Trail, the Pacific Crest Trail, the Continental Divide Trail, The Benton MacKaye Trail, the Bartram Trail and the Palmetto Trail (almost entirely in both directions). I'm still working on sectioning the Florida Trail, Mountains to Sea Trail, and Pinhoti Trail. Am I obsessed about hiking? Yes, yes I am. Want to see some of my adventures?
